Structure must be capable of handling all applied loads

With the advent of technology, great changes have occurred in the method of designing structures. Structures can now be designed in better way with the support of software solutions such as Revit Structure and Tekla. What remains the fundamental thing which should be considered by structural engineers and Building Information Modeling technicians before designing structural framework of the building? Well, the strength of the structure to withstand load, remains the paramount concern of design and construction professionals when the structure is designed.

Structural design process demands the analysis and evaluation of durability and stability of structural framework before their actual construction. The main intension behind the execution of structural design and analysis services is to develop durable structural frameworks which can resist all kinds of possible loads without affecting the health of the building. The structure should be designed in such as way that it can resist all applied loads throughout its life. In other words the main reason behind the development of structure is that it can effectively support both dead and live loads.

If the design development team fails to create the structural design as per the specifications, there are umpteen chances for structural failure. There are enormous chances that a structure which is not developed with that much of attention and seriousness, can fail to withstand the load that comes from cyclones, earthquakes, snow fall and from its own components etc.

Design and construction professionals have to perform all the necessary steps which form a part of structural design process for the development of highly durable structures. Structural drafting, detailing, modeling and structural analysis services should be performed with high accuracy during design development stage.

Structural analysis is the last step in structural design process which helps in determining the quality of the design. During structural analysis, structural engineers have to thoroughly review the design against loads and identify potential issues with the design. If the design is developed according to specifications, it is immediately validated by structural engineers, which means it can be used in actual construction.
