A brief description of important tools required for developing families

It is a very essential blog since I am going to discuss about important tools that are used by Revit users while they develop Revit families. Revit families are extremely important for construction projects and this becomes clear from the fact that their demand is increasing day by day in the market. So it ultimately becomes important for AEC professionals that they equip good knowledge about tools required by them in the family creation process.

One of the most important tools that are used by design and construction professionals while developing families is Revit is the Family Types tool. This tool is located in properties panel of Family Editor and is used for developing new family types for the project in question. Family Types tool is instrumental when it comes to developing a family in various different sizes. Dimension tools that are located in Annotate tab of Family Editor are greatly important in terms of assigning dimensions to a family. When geometry is created for a family in Revit, this software automatically assigns dimensions for it but to provide dimensions according to project requirements Dimension tools are used.

Whenever solid geometry is not needed design and construction professionals make use of Model Line tool for creating 2D geometry. For example door panels can be drawn in 2D instead of 3D so in that case Revit users can use Model Line tool for creating 2D geometry.  For creating symbolic lines users can use Symbolic Line tool that is contained in Annotate tab. Symbolic lines can be used for showing things like door swing in an elevation view by users.

Reference plane tool that is located in Datum Panel can be used for drawing reference plane which works as a guide for developing family geometry. Control tool that is contained within control panel allows Revit users to place arrows for the purpose of rotating as well as mirroring the geometry of a family once it is added in the design.

The Text tool that is accommodated in the Annotate tab is used by Revit users for adding text in the model. So, this description of Family Editor Tools of Revit makes it clear that it is one of the most important software for developing families.
