Follow the tips if you are having issues while exporting Revit files in Navisworks

Quite often problems are faced by Revit users while they export their Revit files into Navisworks. Revit users come across with such problems especially when they export large and bulky files into Navisworks. The only option for tacking this issue is that, Revit users should properly clean up the files that are generated in Revit before exporting them to Navisworks.

Follow the following steps for properly exporting Revit files to Navisworks.

Create a new view in Revit:  The first and most important step that should be followed by Revit users is to create an entirely new view for Navisworks in Revit. After creating the new view, Revit users should close all the unwanted and unnecessary things which may include Lines and along with other details, by going to the visibility overrides of the view. The things closed by the users are those that will not be required by them while they work on Navisworks. In other words such things which will not be required by users while they execute clash detection services in Navisworks should be switched off by the users.

Save the view as template: Once the new view is successfully created by the users it must be saved as a template for further use. Whenever Revit users want to export this view to Navisworks, they should first go to ‘exports’ and from there select ‘current files by going to the settings.

Check your Navisworks export settings: After following the above step, it is recommended to then check out your Navisworks export settings for unnecessary files. If in case you have any unwanted files or URL links it is suggested to delete them immediately. The files should be deleted, only if they are not required by you in the project. In other words Revit users should carefully analyze every file that they are going to delete, it shouldn’t be a file that may be required by them in the project. For deleting the files Revit users should utilize ‘Purge Unused’ button.

After following the above mentioned tips, I am hopeful that you will not face problems any more.
